Performance Evaluation and Comparison of AODV and AOMDV

چکیده
A Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is a dynamic wireless network that can be formed without the need for any pre-existing infrastructure in which each node can act as a router. One of the main challenges of MANET is the design of robust routing algorithms that adapt to the frequent and randomly changing network topology. A variety of routing protocols have been proposed and several of them have been extensively simulated or implemented as well. In this paper, we compare and evaluate the performance of two types of Ondemand routing protocolsAd-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol, which is unipath and Adhoc On-demand Multipath Distance Vector (AOMDV) routing protocol. In this paper we note that on comparing the performance of AODV and AOMDV, AOMDV incurs more routing overhead and packet delay than AODV but it had a better efficiency when it comes to number of packets dropped and packet delivery.

Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) are a specific class of Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs). Since vehicles tend to move in a high speed, the network topology is rapidly changed. Thus vehicle’s connectivity problem is one of the interesting issues in VANETs. Ad hoc On-demand Multipath Distance Vector (AOMDV) is an extended version of ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV). AOMDV is designed to ...

MANETs are ad hoc multi hop networks, formed of mobile battery chargeable devices and commonly used in emergency situations. With its dynamic topology and limited energy level they often come across with link breaks. This paper analyzes how energy consumption of the mobile devices and density of mobile nodes affects the performance of MANET. AODV and AOMDV are reactive routing protocols used in...

Ad hoc network is one sort of multi-hop, selforganizing and dynamically changing network. There are various challenges in designing a wireless ad hoc network like dynamic topology, limited and shared bandwidth and limited battery power. Generally the nodes in the wireless ad hoc network are mobile, due to that the topology changes continuously. Often due to dynamically changing topologies the r...
